We've commented before that men are more involved in their own wedding planning than ever before...and news sources are agreeing. Huzzah!
A Wedding Trends article released on NAPSI today says that "suddenly men are taking an uncharacteristic interest in everything matrimonial."
Okay, maybe not everything. But enough. Long the domain of the bride-to-be and her mother, wedding planning is being shared more frequently today than ever between the bride and the groom.
Personally, I think the reasons are obvious. First and foremost is the fact that today, grooms and brides often pay for their own wedding, whereas in the past, "her side" took care of certain financial obligations and "his side" the rest ("side" meaning parents and other relatives...not typically the couple-to-be).
We work now. All of us. We make our own money and we call our own shots. Couples wait longer to get married, and frequently are financially established before the wedding, meaning they can pay for more...and do. This doesn't mean there's no place for Mom and Dad to help. If they've offered, great!
But with more of a financial stake in the process, grooms are just, well, more interested. Which is fine by us. Fine and then some.
You go, boys!
